Chat schedule

Winterfest Online 2015

Catherine and friends chatting

We have a new set of chatrooms this year. Because these are paid rooms hosted by Chatzy, we hope their performance will be better than past ones. (Thank you Bat, Cindy, and Pat for sponsoring them.)

We have 3 rooms again this year, a Theme room, a Games room, and one for general Visiting. Conversations in languages other than English are permitted and welcome, though you may like to choose a room that's currently quiet.

Most scheduled chats last an hour or less. We ask you to try hard to stay on topic, at least until you run out of things to discuss. The talent show is tentatively planned to take place in Skype, unless we find a better solution before next Saturday. The talent show, like the farewell chat, has been known to last much longer than an hour.

Not every scheduled chat will necessarily have a moderator. Just jump in and start discussing, or in the case of episode chats, someone volunteer to do the count.

Below is the schedule for the themed chats.

7 and 11 pm time slots in the Games room; others in the Theme room (except the Talent show)

A little explanation about some of the chats:

B&B Discussion

Episode chat: We all watch at home with our own DVD, starting at the same time, after a 10 second countdown.

B&B in French : If there's sufficient participation, discussion in French about B&B. Otherwise perhaps discuss differences between the French and English versions of B&B.

B&B in German : If there's sufficient participation, discussion in German about B&B. Otherwise perhaps discuss differences between the German and English versions of B&B.

B&B in Italian : If there's sufficient participation, discussion in Italian about B&B. Otherwise perhaps discuss differences between the Italian and English versions of B&B.

B&B in Spanish : If there's sufficient participation, discussion in Spanish about B&B. Otherwise perhaps discuss differences between the Spanish and English versions of B&B.

An edgier Vincent?: In a previous edition of the China Moon script, Vincent killed the Tong leader. In the final version, one of the Tong killed him. Do you think the show did the right thing in this? Or would an edgier characterization of Vincent have been welcome at times?

Back from the dead: If you could bring back a character who died, would you choose Winslow, Ellie, Charles Chandler, or Elliot? Why?

Comparing Paracelsus & Gabriel: What forms of evil do Paracelsus and Gabriel represent? Who is the worse villain?

5 seasons: If the show had gone on for five years, how do you think they would have wrapped it up? Who from the world Above would have found out about Vincent?

Getting physical with Vincent: How tall was Vincent supposed to be? Can his nails be cut so they aren't so sharp? Are his feet similar to his hands? Add your silly getting-physical-with-Vincent question.

Isaac: What happened to Isaac? What would you have liked to see happen with him?

Mouse in love?: Would Mouse ever have been given a love interest? Who?

Paracelsus: In canon, Father gives two different stories about whether or not Vincent has ever known Paracelsus. Which do you go with and why?

Recasting Catherine?: Should Catherine have been recast for 3S, in light of Linda's departure? Would the audience have accepted a new Catherine Chandler?

Tamara: In a different 3S, would Tamara have avenged Paracelsus' death? How?

What happened with... What do you think happened to Laura? Mitch? Devin and Charles? Lisa Campbell? Joe? Jenny?

Worst Plot Holes: In your opinion, what was the worst plot hole in B&B?

Other Discussion

Con Q&A: Michelle will give us information and answer questions about this summer's annual convention.

Farewell Chat: Close and lasting friendships have been formed at past Winterfest chats. Those who are reluctant to bid goodbye to WFOL often chat well into the night.

Guided tour of WFOL: A candlemaker or three will show you around. This is intended for those new to Winterfest Online.

Getting the most out of fandom: tips for newbies: Fandom can be overwhelming to a newbie. What tips would you offer to help? Where do you spend the most time that you might suggest to a newbie? What pitfalls would you warn a newbie about? What are your favorites?

Next year: Let's talk about next Winterfest.

Talent Show: Past performances have included songs, and readings of poetry and short stories.

Treasure Hunt hints & help: For those who may be stuck doing the treasure hunt, pop in and ask questions.

Welcome chat: Sign in and introduce yourself! What city are you from? How many years in fandom? When did you first watch the show? Which character is your favorite? And anything else you want to say about yourself!

Games

BATB 20 questions: someone thinks of something and the others try to guess by asking yes/no or similar questions (Animal, vegetable, or mineral? Above or Below?)

B&B Trivia: Answer questions about the show.

Devin's Jobs: Play is the same as Mouse's Raccoon.

Fortunately, Unfortunately: A game, played in turns, eg, Person 1: Unfortunately, an intruder came to the tunnels: Person 2: Fortunately, he was caught in one of Mouse's traps. Person 3: Unfortunately, the trap didn't work and the intruder quickly escaped. Person 4: Fortunately, a sentry spotted him and sent the message on the pipes. Person 5: Unfortunately... This works a little better with an odd number of people, so they trade off with fortunately and unfortunately.

Hide & Seek: One person hides and the rest try to find her/him by asking questions about where they're hiding, similar to 20 questions.

Mouse's Raccoon: Mouse's racoon is... Person 1: adorable; Person 2: active; Person 3: affable; Person 1: brilliant; Person 2: bratty; Person 3: boisterous; Person 1: cute... Those who can't come up with a new adjective in a reasonable time are out.

Vincent's Cloak: Play is the same as Mouse's Raccoon
